Paint one wall black, (preferably the wall with the window so it's not completely dark.) two red, and one white. Buy black furniture and you're done! Easy and simple! I know that this sounds weird but trust me, this is becoming very popular and I'm also thinking about doing it.
You both are on the right track with the blues and lavenders for a romantic bedroom. Try to find a light periwinkle shade that suits you both. Maybe buying bedding that you both like first will help you choose the exact shade. I have "Violet Vignette" (Sherwin Wms.) in one of my rooms and it looks blue or lavender, depending on the light and what bedding I use.

the color of the walls could be light to mid light. Low watt and tinted light bulbs will be the truest way to evoke atmosphere.
I would tint the blue you already have just to get it away from a baby blue. Get it to a , terquois, greyblue, teal. just buy a very small can of green or dark grey. make sure you are buying a waterbase or oilbase to comply with your blu.

a beaver told me
I would say...blizzard blue for the first wall...playboy pink for the second...a touch of light salmon on the roof...third wall should be...a plum color...and the fourth wall...maybe a nice saddle brown...the carpet should blend...so lets make it a...fuchsia...the first wall should have a splash of black daisies...maybe paint a hot naked guy on the roof...for the times when the sex aint that good...maybe some secret doors for those times when you just need to get away from the bastard...yep :)...that sounds good :)...
Deep colors. Light colors can make a room look childish, especially if it is a purple. If you don't like red, try a deep indigo or violet, but hang up lots of mirrors so the room doesn't seem small. Dark colors can be constricting and give the illusion of less space.
You could passably have someone paint a Scen of were you two meet or were he proposed. you could try painting a field of purple flower on the lower half of the wall then make the blue the sky and paint one tree with a hart in the middle of it with your internals in it.
I love Wine Red!, with black, or a fall orange color, as the accent color! umm but yeah loose the light blue, I prefer the purple!! if your hubby wants a blue, you can use white walls and using a darker aqua blue, than that looks good, like an ocean clean fresh room!! oooyeahh!! Good luck!
Try painting some of the wall with the paint to see if you like the color...paint in a can is hard to tell if you like it or not.
Try adding greens around the room, make the color blue the sky....and you could use different colors to bring in a garden theme...

well blue can be laced or accessorized with a pretty color.
or u can have sky blue that fades at some point in the room
or a peach white. the furniture helps with the room's look too
the style of the furniture especially.

Purples and blues are very soothing. You could try a yellow to brighten the room and add energy. An orangy red could be sexy in the right shade without being over whelming.
a really deep chocolate brown. you can still use the light blue to accent the room, and can even pull in some lavenders along with the blue
i think that a burnt orange or a deep violet sets the mood perfectly for a romantic theme but its up to you =D best of luck! <3
If you want romantic, you should lean toward redish orange or brown. Add a few candle lights here and there and you got the 5 star romantic suite!
Lavender! But light. That is pretty modern but it's also very romantic at the same time.
